2.41am in the morning... still cant sleep... it's all because of a call at 9pm... called to inform me that this weekend i need to work... my world world just came crashing down... gone are the days when instead of resting, i went to train, get scolded by team mates in and out of training, getting cuts and injuries, sunburnt, back aching... so much effort put in... and just a phone call to destroy it... I thought I can still just play one my last IVP before I can finally let go and graduate happily this August.... I guess my last IVP was in 2010... this year for SIM guys is the first time we have our own juniors to join in the IVP team.... not ex players from other school.... also the first time so many generations of NP men and women players from different NP teams playing for SIM... It used to be just Rowdy Boyz and Monsters.... but now... its rowdy, titans, detours, MF, markus team and even within rowdy its different generation of players.... my whole canoepolo life... since 2003 till now... i never miss a single Nat Champs... not even when I serve the army... it just hurts me so much to know that i can't play IVP this time round... thoughts just swirled in my mind since 9pm...
Dear SIM, how i wish i can really contribute one last time for this club that I set up with all my time and effort.... or had I done enough... it's never enough since this little club is my baby... We are thankfully for all those contributed to this club... from the first Nat champs in 2008 till now... we grew steadily.. bringing back medals to the SIM.. dun care about those who say we are medals steals cause we have ex-players.. they are just being very narrow.. we have true sportsmanship... when playing against our own ex-school we treat them as any other team. We went back to our own ex-school to train with our juniors and coach them. Telling them how to play in different scenario... Just like one of my coach once told me.... "I taught both school the same tactic... the one who can execute well will be the winner." By having ex-players still playing in IVP... we are actually lifting the standard up... But it is really sad that there is quite a big gap as years goes by... I think the gap is going to close up from next year onwards...
Dear NP, thank you for nurturing me in the early years... wonderful team mates and friends i met. Those sweat and swear words turned into memories... initially i just wanted to be an ordinary member... but i see that something is wrong and without realising it... i slowly climbed my way up to be in the Publicity and eventually the President... A club with no direction is bound to be doom.. the whole rebranding to NACC is probably one of the best thing to help it to grow... unfortunately... i left for a bigger cause... i felt a need to expand this sport (which is why I set up canoe polo in SIM) Some supported me, some go against me... Said I betrayed NP... I never did... or should I say... i never even thought of it.. Some people believe in getting their school/team dominating this sport... I never believe in that... I believe in expanding... getting more school to play this sport will be better... more people will know about it... then it will be more recognised... when there's more teams, naturally it will be more competitive... if you study economic... you will know what I am trying to explain here... :)
dear canoepolo.blogspot.com thank you for being here for me... a place for me to confide in whatever i wanna say... ops.. its public... haha.. its really amazing how when anyone thought of me... will remind them of canoepolo... i am quite good at branding and marketing myself out huh... alright... all the best to the two school that I love the most... SIM & NP... may the odds be ever in your favor! FIGHTING!!!
